Pioneers of Men’s Health in WA

Men and women have been contributing to men’s health in Western Australia and across Australia. The following have been awarded as pioneers of men’s health.

Gary Bryant

Gary was Executive officer of the Men’s Advisory Network (MAN) which was the previous name of MHWWA from 2002 to 2011.

Gary then worked concurrently as Executive Officer of Men’s Sheds of WA, a position he held for eight years and Executive Officer of the Australian Men’s Health Forum for seven years.

He then volunteered with MHWWA at 2021 supporting men’s health until his retirement in 2023.

Christabel Chamarette

Christabel has 50 years’ experience in the treatment of violence and sexual problems and adult victims of child sexual abuse.

Each year from 2010 – 2023 she has Co-facilitated a community-based treatment program for child sexual abuse and Child Exploitation Material (CEM) offending.

Owen Catto

Owen’s interest is in empowering men to move forward and embrace progressive changes in their family relationships and their wellbeing and health. Since 2007 Owen has worked specifically in men’s holistic wellbeing and health. He presents a range of educational programs and strategies for men, their families and communities.
