Coronary heart disease, anxiety and depression – Beyond Blue
Anxiety, depression and coronary heart disease (CHD) are common conditions and often occur together. However, until recently, little was known about the relationship between them. Now there is evidence to show that depression can be as big a risk factor for CHD as smoking, high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Depression can also affect the recovery of people with coronary heart disease and increase their risk of further heart problems.
