Are you worried about your behaviour?
It takes real strength to recognise when your behaviour might be causing harm—and even more to take steps toward change. You’re not alone, and it’s never too late to make a positive difference. All relationships have ups and downs. Disagreements with partners, children, or family are normal and can bring up strong emotions like frustration, sadness, or anger. But there’s an important difference between a healthy disagreement and behaviour that involves violence or control.
Have you ever:
-
Stopped your partner from spending money for personal use?
-
Shouted or screamed at a family member?
-
Slapped, hit, pushed or shoved a family member or threatened to?
-
Scared your partner or children?
-
Thrown something in the presence of my partner or child? e.g. a chair or drinking glass
-
Pressured my partner into doing something sexual that they didn’t want to do?
-
Used insulting or belittling names towards a family member?
If you answered yes to one or more of the above, it might be worth reaching out to one of the support services on the following page to have a chat or check out No to Violence.
If you are experiencing any of the above behaviour at home, the support services on the following page are also for you. Many of these services offer support of men and women who are victims and survivors of family and domestic violence too.

And some men can use violence against others. Being a victim and perpetrator of abuse at the same time is not uncommon.
